Elnaz Rostami– or simply “Elli” in the Kuala Lampur art circles – has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Tehran, KL and Penang for over a decade. She started painting professionally at the age of 15 as soon as she entered the local arts high school in Tehran, Iran.

Elli received her Bachelor of Arts at “Tehran University of Science and Culture” in 2010 and continued her education in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, at the “University of Malaya” and completed her Master’s degree in 2014. She successfully presented her first solo exhibition, “Lady in Red” in June 2014 in KL.

"...the artist becomes lonelier every day in the process of gaining wisdom, and slowly forgoes the desire to mix with others as a sacrifice, to create her art. She has to be locked up in her own unique mind, without the distraction of ordinary desires and dedicate her being to her masterpieces. She has to be like a “stone”; silent and unexpressive in eyes of others, to create something that stimulates extraordinary feelings. Elli has also used famous works of her inspirations, Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Edward Munch and others in some of her works to express this particular concept. Artists whom all by choice or otherwise, sacrificed a normal life in order to leave behind a legacy that lives through time."
